On 13th October 2020, apple unveiled the newest iPhone, the iPhone 12 pro and pro max. These models are being sold alongside the much more affordable iPhone 12 and 12 mini.
This year Apple has emphasized the “Pro” aspect of the new iPhone. They claim that these new more expensive iPhones push the boundaries of innovation.

Apple iPhone 12 pro and 12 pro max features:
They are available in 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch size options, having full-screen Super Retina XDR displays. The displays are edge to edge alongside the exception of Face ID notch. The 6.1-inch iPhone pro has a resolution of 2532 x 1170. Whereas the 6.7-inch iPhone 11 pro max has a resolution of 2778 x 128. The displays offer HDR support with peak brightness, Wide Color, Haptic Touch, and True Tone.
The new iPhone 12 models are the first of their kind to feature 5G connectivity. 5G connectivity promises faster uploading, downloading, video streaming, gaming, and higher resolution Facetime calls. The smart data mode reverts your phone to an LTE connection when 5G isn’t necessary. The 5G coverage is made available worldwide however in the US they offer mmWave 5G which is the fastest. It also supports WiFi 6.0 and Bluetooth 5.0. Moreover, it includes a U1 Ultra-Wideband chip for spatial awareness.
It also contains a new A14 chip which promises better performance and efficiency as the 6-core CPU and 4-core GPU are fifty percent faster than the fastest competing smartphone chips. It also includes a 16-core neural engine that increases the performance for machine learning tasks as the world is evolving.
Although the iPhone 12 pro and iPhone 12 pro max offer the same specification’s the only difference is in their cameras. The iPhone 12 pro has a seven-element Wide camera with an f/1.6 aperture, ultra-wide camera with 120 degree view and 52mm telephoto lens which offers 4x optical zoom. It also offers dual optical image stabilization whereas, the iPhone 12 pro max offers seven-element Wide camera with an f/1.6 aperture, ultra-wide camera with 120°-degree view, 655mm telephoto lens which offers 5x optical zoom and sensor-shift optical image stabilization.
For both models the A14 chip offers new image signal processor and computational photography capabilities that weren’t available before. Night mode is available for both front and back cameras. Deep fusion and Smart HDR 3 features are also a part of these phones. For video, the iPhone 12 Pro models support 4K 60fps video and HDR video recording with Dolby Vision at up to 60 frames per second with better video stabilization. Both models also offer face ID recognition system which features a 12-megapixel camera for selfies.
As far as the battery life is concerned, the iPhone 12 pro offers 18 hours of video playback, 11 hours of streaming video playback, or 65 hours of audio playback whereas the iPhone 12 pro max offers 20 hours of video playback, 12 hours of streaming video playback, or 80 hours of audio playback. It is yet the best battery timing offered by apple. Both models offer fast charging i.e 50 percent within 30 minutes.
